[Introduction] At present, the automotive industry is playing an increasingly significant role in the national economy. Its development space is expected to be good, but it still faces many constraints. To achieve the goal of growing the strength of auto industry and building China into an automotive power, the joint efforts of the central and local governments as well as enterprises are required. This chapter illustrates the necessity and importance of strengthening China’s automobile industry through in-depth analysis of the status, prospects and technology development trends of the automotive industry. By taking Detroit as a typical case and discussing the status quo of Jiading and its future transformation and upgrading, the chapter concludes that Jiading’s road to transformation should be oriented toward the goal of “World Automotive Industry Center”.
